Rewards are paid in the form of a Virtual Visa® Reward, except for homes in Arizona, for which a one-time rent credit or rent reduction will be given to the existing resident for each qualifying referral. In Arizona, existing residents can only receive a reward for referring potential buyers to the community in which the existing resident resides when the referral is made, and for home purchases, are limited to not more than one (1) reward per calendar year. Arizona residents making referrals for a home purchase will be required to sign a disclosure before receiving the reward. Further, in Arizona, existing residents can only receive a reward for referring prospective renters to the community in which the existing resident resides when the referral is made, and the exiting resident can only receive five rewards per year for a referral who rents a home owned by MHC Property Management, L.P. or an affiliate, which home must be located in the community in which the resident resides.
All local, state and federal income taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. Accordingly, we recommend that all participants consult a tax advisor about reporting rewards for tax purposes. We will issue the required 1099 to each recipient and to the IRS when the total cash payments and value of all rewards you are eligible to receive equal or exceed $600.00 for one year.
